I have struggled with addiction for the majority of my adult life, and it has been a difficult journey. In some ways, it feels like I’ve been in a never-ending battle with my addiction. Over time, I ended up seeking help through addiction health care services, and it has helped me take small but essential steps towards recovery.
The first thing I did was to have an honest conversation about my addition with a professional therapist. This serious conversation allowed me to better understand not just my own feelings but also how addiction works in general. It wasn’t easy or comfortable talking about such an intimate part of my life, but being honest about everything was incredibly important.
