I’ve noticed my anxiety gets much worse when my hypothyroidism isn’t well controlled. I feel restless, worried, and on edge, even when nothing specific is wrong. It can be hard to tell what’s anxiety and what’s my thyroid acting up.

My doctor is checking my levels and adjusting things, but the waiting and second-guessing is stressful. Has anyone else noticed their anxiety changing with their thyroid levels?

@Becky_Harvey, the waiting and second-guessing is the worst part for me too. When my levels were off, the anxious feeling showed up physically first, with restlessness and a racing mind, so it was hard to tell what was causing what.

One thing that helped was keeping a simple daily note of my medication time, sleep, symptoms, and any major stress. Bringing that to my appointment gave my doctor something more concrete than trying to remember how I’d felt over several weeks. I hope the adjustment settles things for you soon.

@Becky_Harvey, I’ve noticed the physical restlessness can make my thoughts spiral, even when there’s no obvious trigger. That uncertainty makes it especially hard to know what to address first.

I started jotting down my sleep, medication time, and symptoms for a few days before appointments. Seeing the pattern on paper helped me feel less like I was guessing, and gave my doctor clearer information to work with.

@Becky_Harvey, the restlessness without a clear reason is what gets me too. Once my thyroid levels were off, I’d feel keyed up before I even had anxious thoughts, which made it hard to trust what I was feeling.

I started writing down when I took my medication and when that wired feeling showed up. It didn’t solve the waiting, but it gave me something concrete to bring to my doctor.
