Finding balance with sleep obsession disorder

This makes me think about how our relationship with sleep can be so complicated, especially when it becomes an obsession. I used to get so wrapped up in the idea of needing “perfect” sleep. You know, like counting the hours, analyzing every tiny detail of my sleep hygiene, and stressing over how many times I woke up during the night. It felt exhausting!

I remember one particularly overwhelming week where I was fixated on my sleep tracker. I thought that by monitoring everything, I could somehow control my sleep quality. But instead of feeling empowered, I just felt more anxious. It’s strange how something that’s supposed to be restorative turned into a source of stress. Has anyone else experienced that?

Eventually, I realized that I needed to find a balance. I began experimenting with some new routines, which really helped shift my mindset. For me, creating a calm evening ritual became essential—like winding down with a good book or practicing mindfulness instead of constantly checking my sleep app. It’s almost like I had to remind myself that sleep is a natural process, not a puzzle to be solved.

I’m curious, has anyone found techniques that help when sleep starts to feel like an obsession? Or maybe you’ve tried letting go of tracking altogether? I’d love to hear how you navigate those moments when sleep feels more like a chore than a necessity. Finding that balance can be tricky, but I think sharing our experiences could really shed some light on it.
