Feeling trapped in the cycle of bingeing and restricting

This caught my attention since it feels like such a raw and personal struggle that so many people don’t talk about. I’ve been reflecting on my own journey with binge eating and restricting lately, and honestly, it’s like being caught in a revolving door that just won’t stop spinning.

At times, I find myself caught in this cycle where I restrict my eating, thinking I’m taking control of my health and my life. But then, just a few days later, I’m knee-deep in a binge, feeling like I can’t stop myself. It’s a weird contradiction, right? I’m trying to take care of myself, yet I end up in this tug-of-war between discipline and indulgence. I think anyone who has experienced this knows how exhausting it can be, both physically and mentally.

There are moments when I feel trapped, like I’m in a box of my own making, and I just can’t find the key to get out. It’s frustrating because I know intellectually that it’s not about the food—it’s about something deeper, something that I need to address. Sometimes, I wonder if it’s a way of coping with emotions I haven’t quite figured out how to handle. Have any of you felt that way?

I’ve been trying to work on being kinder to myself. It’s a slow process. I’m learning that it’s okay to acknowledge these feelings and that I don’t have to have all the answers right now. I’ve started talking to someone who understands this world, and it’s honestly been a game-changer. Just having that space to express what I’m going through is freeing in a way.

If anyone else is going through something similar, I’d love to hear your thoughts. How do you navigate those cycles, and what helps you find a little more balance? It feels good to share and connect, even when the path is rocky.
