I’m considering Alsana for support with my eating disorder, and I keep going back and forth about making the call. I had an intake at another place years ago where the rooms felt cold and clinical, and I shut down before I could be honest about how bad things had gotten. I’m hoping Alsana feels more human, but I’m still nervous about the structure and being around other people at different stages of recovery.

Has anyone here stayed at Alsana and found the support helpful?

@Diana_House, the cold, clinical setting can make it incredibly hard to be honest. I had a similar reaction during an intake years ago and answered everything with the safest version of the truth.

What helped me later was asking direct questions before committing, especially about daily structure, group sizes, and how they handle people at different stages. I also wrote down what I wanted staff to know, since talking face to face made me freeze.

@Monica_George, writing things down was such a practical suggestion. I’ve had appointments where my mind went blank, then I remembered the details I meant to mention hours later. A note can make it easier to be honest without having to find every word on the spot.

Did you bring the note with you and hand it to someone, or use it mainly to prepare questions beforehand? I’m curious whether the staff actually took time to read it and respond to what you’d written.
