City Council rejects $145K PTSD claim by former MPD sergeant involved in Jaleel Stallings beating

I was very disappointed to read about the Minneapolis City Council rejecting the $145,000 PTSD claim by a former MPD sergeant involved in the Jaleel Stallings beating. The sergeant’s actions in this incident were clearly wrong and he should have been held accountable. However, I do not believe that denying him compensation for his PTSD is the right way to handle this situation. PTSD can be an incredibly debilitating condition, and I believe that the sergeant should be provided with the resources and treatment he needs to address his condition. Denying him compensation will only add to his suffering and will not make the situation any better.
