My mental health and addiction journey has been full of challenges over the last few years. I thought long and hard about seeking help, but one day I finally took the plunge. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
I’m so grateful to be living in a time when advances in mental health and addiction therapies are being made every day. From Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to dialectical behavior therapy, I feel like these one-on-one sessions have really helped me work through my issues step-by-step.
Online communities like Social Anxiety Freedom and Sober Grid have been remarkable resources as well. They offer professionals from various backgrounds to access support, share stories, gain new insights, ask questions, and find encouragement with those that can relate to their situation on a more personal level.
I’ve also found great relief through applying alternative practices such as mindfulness meditation, affirmations and journaling every morning and night. These simple yet incredibly effective activities have given me a greater sense of peace that no matter how difficult things may seem at the current moment - everything will work out in due time if you stay open and persevere.
Most importantly however is my family’s guidance throughout this journey; without them there would be no hope whatsoever. And although it may take some time before overcoming my issues - for now simply putting in the effort has condemned any doubts that once plagued me prior to embracing this healing process!
