A mom owed nearly $102,000 for her son's stay in a state mental health hospital

This article is a great example of how mental health care is moving in a more positive direction. It is encouraging to see North Carolina taking steps to move away from the institutionalized mental health treatment of the past. By replacing large state hospitals with smaller and more intimate treatment centers, individuals can receive more specialized and individualized care. Additionally, the approach of offering treatment and care in the community instead of the hospital will hopefully reduce the stigma associated with individuals seeking mental health services. This is a great step in the right direction and I hope other states follow North Carolina’s lead in providing more comprehensive and accessible mental health care.
